Nepal, a developing country, is in her infancy stage with regards to oral health education. The Nepali government face challenges in providing education and dental care to rural parts of Nepal due to the lack of infrastructures. In addition, the prevalence of socio-economic disparity, uneven geography and lack of perceived need has led to majority of the population devoid of oral health education and care.

Social norms, such as visiting dentists only when pain is unbearable and brushing just once in the morning, are still extensively followed in Nepal. Therefore, non-government or international help to countries such as Nepal is important in bridging the gap in healthcare and education.
